Kiwanis Club of Cheney Meeting Notes for July 17, 2014

Dear Kiwanians,

Keith opened the meeting.  He gave a shout out to George who had been absent for quite a while.  He also noted that July 21st was his 30th wedding anniversary.  He paid the obligatory $30 and we all sang (which he said sounded “pretty good”).

Bill Nation was the secret greeter.

The 50/50 draw went to Toy – who donated it to Cheney Outreach.  Then, Tony won again for the quarter draw!  Again, donated to Cheney Outreach.  Finally, Roger was selected to take the Pelican for a couple of weeks.

The cotton candy fund-raiser during the Rodeo Day Parade netted $210!  Thanks to all who participated!

Roger reminded everyone about the rest stop fund-raiser from 12-14 September.  However, he was putting in our reservation for 2015 and wondered if there was a better weekend to reserve.  Tony recommended Labor Day weekend (lots of holiday travelers), if available.

Keith reminded everyone of the social event in the park this summer.  We decided to meet on August 20 when the group “Last Chance for Gas” is playing.  This social outing will be a pot-luck….

George, Steve, and Peter still need the Child Protection training...

The annual meeting is set for October 3rd at Gatto’s in the evening.  Mark your calendars.

John introduced Charles Muchler of EWU who talked about Don Patterson.  Don was the EWU provost from 1954-1967.  During that time, EWU transitioned from a Normal School to a state college in 1961.  (It became EWU in 1977 two years after Don passed away.)

Respectfully,

Steve
