Kiwanis Club of Cheney Meeting Notes for July 24, 2014

Dear Kiwanians,

Tom opened the meeting since Keith was not in atendance.

It will be Carl’s birthday on July 29, so we all sang.

The 50/50 draw went to Cark, which seemed appropriate.  Then, DaveD won for the quarter draw – but, he was also not in attendance, so it carries over to the next meeting.

The cotton candy fund-raiser during the Rodeo Day Parade netted $210!  A special thanks to Fred, who was in attendance!

The club donated $164 for pool passes for needy Cheney kids.  Everyone showed Jeri their appreciation for this gesture.

Steve reported that Kiwanis’s first golf tournament raised over $3,100!  We will receive our portion of the donations next week.

Roger reminded everyone about the rest stop fund-raiser from 12-14 September.  He reserved the same weekend for 2015.

Tom reminded everyone of the social event in Sutton Park this summer.  We decided to meet on August 20 at 5:30 pm.  This social outing will be a pot-luck….

The annual meeting is set for October 3rd at Gatto’s in the evening.  Mark your calendars.

The InterClub visit is with Spokane West Kiwanis Club at Perkin’s Restaurant on August 6 for dinner.

George presented a slide show on his efforts to assist in the Carlton Complex wildland fire in Washington – the largest fire on record. He worked as a representative of the Red Cross in the operations center.  He discussed SUVs – spontaneous unaffiliated volunteers.  Once you accept their help, you need to feed them and house them.

Respectfully,

Steve
