Kiwanis Club of Cheney Meeting Notes for January 30 2014

Kiwanis Club of Cheney Meeting Notes for January 30 2014

Dear Kiwanians,

Keith opened the meeting.  The Secret Greeter was Duane.

It was Ted Nealy’s birthday, and he paid not to have us sing.

Randi K won the 50/50 dollars.  No one present won the card draw (Benji).

The lucky person receiving the Pelican was Randy L.

The next InnerClub meeting is at the Spokane Club on February 11 at noon.

Everyone in attendance was encouraged to continue donating into the Easter Basket started at the last meeting. The money raised will be donated to the Easter Egg Hunt and the Ronald MacDonald House.

The next Board meeting is February 3rd.

Stage West representative will be the guest speaker for the evening meeting on February 6th.

Kiwanis teams up with the Chaplain’s Fund and the Community Service Council to provide hygiene kits to the Cheney Middle School.  On Jan 31st, 9 female and 6 male hygiene kits will be disseminated at the school.

Roger remembered to bring the Valentine Day Flower Delivery sign-up list.  We need folks to volunteer their time on Valentine’s Day itself.

Keith brought up the “Paint a Helmut” fund raiser at the Spokane Fairgrounds.  This might be something for the Key Club to take on.

Our first guest speaker was Melissa Sheridan, faculty advisor to the CHS Key Club.  After Jeff, the assistant principal, introduced her, she talked about the membership of the Key Club and what activities they were participating in.

Jeff also brought along two students of the month: Matt Riddle, Class President, and Bailey Jungworth, Class VP.  They discussed the activities that the student body is doing, to include blood drives, spirit game, special Olympics, etc.  There are 230 students in the senior class this year.  Matt hopes to go to Whitworth College to play football, while Bailey wants to go to EWU.

The next meeting on February 6 starts at 5 pm (not 7 am).

Respectfully,

Steve
