Kiwanis guests prepare to sleep outdoors

After a hot breakfast at the last Cheney Kiwanis meeting of the year, our guests had training classes, made shelters for themselves in the forest, and settled down to sleep in the snow. The Cheney Kiwanis guests were 30 cadets from the Civil Air Patrol and U.S. Navy Sea Cadets. They were on an outdoor survival training exercise at Camp Comia. The temperature the night of their campout was about 4 degrees below zero. When you are a Sea Cadet or a Civil Air Patrol Cadet, you must be of strong character. Happy New Year!
