Keith noted the social event in Sutton Park on August 20 went very well until the rain came!

I gave a report on my summer vacation to China (to include Tibet).  Everyone told me that it was “very interesting.”

Kiwanis Club of Cheney Meeting Notes for August 14, 2014

Dear Kiwanians,
Keith opened the meeting.

Ed was the secret greeter.

It is Marge’s birthday and Fred/Gail’s 24th anniversary.  We sang - twice.

The 50/50 draw went to Jeri, who donated it to Cheney Outreach.   Then, Duane won for the quarter draw – and he donated it to the Kiwanis Scholarship Fund.

Keith made several date announcements:

-          September 4 is the last evening meeting

-          August 20 is the Cheney School District’s Open House at its new facility.

-          August 20 Club Social at Sutton Park (potluck)

-          October 2 is a regular meeting

-          October 3 is our annual meeting

-          October 6 is a Board Meeting

-          October 31 is the annual Halloween Party at EWU

Dues are now due ($106 person; $55 for spouses).  Keith whipped out his $106 in cash and paid first to lead the way!

Tom reported on the recent Division Meeting.  The Paint-a-Helmut program is hurting.  The Division Lt Governor Fund is short.  Proposed $7 per person per club to pump it up.  Finally, the Division needs help with its website.  Volunteers?

Roger reminded everyone about the rest stop fund-raiser from 12-14 September.  He reserved the same weekend for 2015.  We need volunteers for Saturday.  Bring cookies to the meeting prior to sell.

Tom reminded everyone of the social event in Sutton Park this summer.  We decided to meet on August 20 at 5:30 pm.  This social outing will be a pot-luck….

Molly Airs was the guest speaker.  She is the new EWU Community Outreach Coordinator with an office in Showalter Hall.  She has had the job since 2012.  She works for Stacey Foster.  She oversees a staff of two Americorps student volunteers and the publication of the “Engage” magazine.

Following the meeting, Dave Daugherty conducted child protection class for the half dozen members who missed the first one (including Steve, John, and George).

Respectfully,

Steve
