December 25, 2014 -- no meeting.  Merry Christmas!

Kiwanis Club of Cheney - December 4, 2014 meeting notes

The meeting was called to order at 7am by President Tom Whitfield.  There were 20 members present plus two guests, our speaker and 5 members of the Spokane Valley club.

Tom won the 50/50 drawing and several birthdays were recognized.  Our two guests also submitted member applications.

The Apple pies for the Apple Cup wager were served.

Jeri updated the club on the See's candy delivery and sale next weekend at Cheney Trading Company.

Margie thanked members for bringing guests and reminded us that the membership contest continues through the end of December.

Our speaker was Ken Halpin, the Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs at EWU.  He spoke about the change from the Eagle Athletic Association to the Eagle Athletic Fund.  He explained that the demand for tickets and tailgate spots exceeds supply so there are waiting lists and  now points are awarded based on type of donation to help allocate tickets and tailgate spots.  He was asked about corporate sponsorships and said that this process has been outsourced but there are face to face meetings with locals to find out what type of sponsorship gives the best benefit to the sponsor.  He also talked about the challenge of handling playoff ticket sales -- every seat in the stadium is separately ticketed for a playoff and allocation of tickets has to comply with NCAA rules.

The meting was adjourned at 8am.

December 18, 2014 meeting notes

The meeting was called to order at 6:55am by President Tom Whitfield and there were 18 members and 8 guests present.

The secret greeter was Tony; we recognized one birthday and Steve won the 50/50 drawing.

Duane Isaac presented the club with a $1000 check from STCU.  He tracked his volunteer time for the club and submitted it to generate this scholarship donation.

A new member, John McCallum, was welcomed into the club and spoke briefly about his background and his involvement in West Plains Little League.

Troy Hewett from Cheney High presented the two outstanding students for December.  Bradley Powell is active in DECA, FBLA, honor societies, and cheerleading.  He plans to attend EWU to study art and business.  Trenton Briggs is involved in DECA and recently had the lead in a school play.  He plans to attend college in Florida.
Our speaker was Chad Bodnar, head coach of EWU Women's Soccer.  He was a coach for 10 years at Walla Walla CC with a strong win record before coming to EWU.  This year at EWU they have had 8 wins when the team usually had 3 to 4 wins in a season.  He has 15 verbal commitments for next season and a few for the following season. He attributes 80% of team success to recruiting the right students -- he judges character by speaking with other coaches who have worked with the potential player and also checks social medial postings.  He is able to offer 14 full scholarships a year and there are 32 women on the team.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:55am.

December 11, 2014 meeting notes

We had 15 members and 3 guests; our speaker had to cancel at the last minute.  We recognized two birthdays and Fred won the 50/50.

Margie noted that the membership drive will continue into January.

Candy sale:  Jeri said we collected about $1157 in the two day sale at Cheney Trading Company.  She and Dave will sell candy at a small craft fair on Dec. 13 at the Cheney Library.

Rande confirmed that he has a January 8 speaker and asked for other speaker ideas from the club.

Tom reported that the Division has a fund to help clubs.

Tony noted that 5 members attended the East Spokane Christmas Breakfast fundraiser for Camps for Kids.

The sign up sheet for a January 9 holiday party was passed around.  We have a total of about 20 members and spouses who plan to attend.  There will be a white elephant gift exchange; items should not exceed $10-15 in value.  Location will be determined.  We discussed the possibility of meeting at Gatto's, the Holiday Inn express and at the Wren Pierson building.  There may be room fees and alcohol restrictions at some of these.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 am.

Kiwanis Club of Cheney - no meeting on November 27, 2014.  Happy Thanksgiving!
Kiwanis Club of Cheney - November 20, 2014 meeting notes

The meeting was called to order just before 7am by President Tom Whitfield.  There were 19 members plus 12 guests.  Our guests included 6 potential members as well as 6 people who spoke to the club.
    1. Theresa, from East Spokane and our Lt. Gov. elect, spoke about Paint-a-Helmet and their club's theatre fundraiser for it.

    2.  Tony Blount, with Boots and Spurs and Stars and Stripes spoke about their December 7 fundraiser and had signed EWU football and basketball on display.  These will be auctioned off at the December 7 event.

    3.  Troy Hewett, assistant principal at Cheney High School presented the outstanding students for November:  Mackenzie Norman and Matt Peterson.  Mackenzie is a sophomore who just took first at the state 2A swimming championship in the 100 yard freestyle.   She told us that the Cheney girls team placed 10th overall and all three relay teams placed within the top 11.  Matt participates in the marching band which placed 2nd overall in a statewide competition for high schools of all sizes.  He said that having new band equipment this year allowed the band to perform its best.  He is a senior who plans to attend EWU and wants to get a Masters in music.

  4.   Our main speaker was Jim Fitzgerald, the Assistant Athletic Director for Academics at EWU.  He told us about the study hall program for athletes:  coaches can assign athletes to study hall or athletes can drop in on their own.  EWU athletes have a 3.3 overall GPA and a 75% graduation rate; both are higher than average.   EWU places highly in the Big Sky President's Cup which recognizes athletic programs with high levels of GPA, community service and wins.
5.  The last speaker was Sally Shamp with Cheney Outreach who sang to us about Christmas Gifts for Cheney Kids.  Last year close to 200 kids were served and about half were teens.  Donation boxes are out in Cheney businesses, the library and at EWU.  Cash donations help and can be mailed to PO Box 444 in Cheney.  The gift distribution set up will start at 5pm on December 18 at Wren Pierson.  Volunteers should call 235-8900 and leave their name and phone.

The meeting was adjourned at 8am.

Kiwanis Club of Cheney - November 13, 2014 meeting notes

The meeting was called to order at 7am by President Tom Whitfield.  Attending were 20 members, three guests and our speaker.

We recognized Annemarie Pollard's birthday and Gail Pollard won the 50/50 drawing.

Club business:
   1.  Margie passed around a thank you from Coats for Kids.
   2.  Margie reminded us to try to bring guests who might become members.  The membership campaign will continue through the first meeting in December.
   3.  See's candy fundraiser - we will sell at Cheney Trading company on December 6 and 7; still need volunteers for 1-5pm on December 6.
   4.  Bob attended the district meeting and brought a flyer announcing Paint a Helmet which will be on April 25, 2015 at the Spokane Fairgrounds.

Speaker:  Our speaker was Tony Lamanna, director of Inland Northwest Honor Flight.  He explained that the first Honor Flight was in 2005 and the national organization now has 130 groups, including one in Alaska.  The Inland Northwest group started in 2009 and has made 27 flights.
Honor flight serves veterans (including merchant marines) who were active during any war era whether they were served in a war zone or not.  Priority is given to WWII vets and vets with terminal illnesses.  Vets who need assistance are accompanied by volunteer guardians.  All trip costs are paid by Honor Flight.  They take charter flights and the trip usually takes two days.  They visit the WWII memorial, the Korean memorial, the Viet Nam wall, Arlington National Cemetery and the Army, Navy and Air Force memorials.  There are local groups that see the vets off when they depart and a high school band and other groups welcome them on their return.
He said that many veterans and their families have said the trip is a 'life changing' experience and sometimes helps relieve survivor guilt or nightmares that veterans still experience.

The meeting was adjourned at 8 am.

Kiwanis Club of Cheney - November 6, 2014 meeting notes

The meeting was called to order at 7am by President Tom Whitfield.  Nineteen members plus our guest speaker were present.  There were no birthdays or anniversaries to celebrate; the 50/50 drawing was won by Vonice.

Harvest Fest report - help was provided by about 12 Kiwanians (and some family members), 12 Salnave K-Kids and a lot of EWU students.  Fred and Gail handed out over 250 servings of cotton candy; there were over 300 total kids at the event.  Kirk was thanked for organizing our role in the event.

The Easterner, the EWU student newspaper, mentioned Kiwanis for both Harvest Fest and Rake a Difference participation.

George Abrams reported that the State of Washington is asking rental owners if anyone can provide residence for people returning to the US from areas in Africa where Ebola is a present.

See's candy pre-sell forms were collected.

Programs for the rest of November:  a representative of Honor Flight will speak at the November 13 meeting, on November 20 Sally Shamp of Toys for Cheney will speak and we may also have students of the month.  There is no meeting on Thanksgiving, November 27.

Our guest speaker was Jim Hayford, head men's basketball coach at EWU.  He is a former Kiwanian and asked us to let him know how he can help us.  He 's lived in the Spokane area for 14 years, is married and has two children and has received a 5 year contract extension as EWU head coach.  He coaches because coaches were a big influence in his life and he wants to make a difference in student's lives.  He said that last year only 1 of the players had a less than 3.0 grade point and the team GPA has been very high in the last 3 years.  He gave us a bit of information on each player.  Players range in height from just under 6 feet to 7 feet 1 inch.  There are 2 from Australia (and more to come) and 2 from Europe.  When asked how he recruits international players, he said the key is relationships.  In Australia he's built relationships with people that work with their national basketball team and that's how he hears about potential athletes.  He focuses on students that he expects will stay at EWU for 4-5 years and complete their degrees; there is only 1 transfer student on this year's team.  Having a top ranked football team has helped with recruiting because students have already heard about EWU.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:58 am.

Kiwanis Club of Cheney - October 30, 2014 meeting notes

The meeting was called to order at 7am by President Tom Whitfield.  There were 24 club members, our speaker and one guest -- Lt. Governor Pat Dockrey, who spoke briefly and reminded us about the upcoming gleaning at Green Bluff.

We recognized Benji's 50th birthday and Gail won the 50/50 drawing.

Mr. Missell, assistant Cheney HS principal and athletic director, introduced two students of the month.  They are both cross country athletes:  Steaven Zachman, a senior who may attend EWU and Hannah Spakousky who is a freshman.  Both are on the all league first team and will be competing at the district meet.

Club business:
   1.  Coats for Kids - Margie reported that 315 coats were distributed and she is willing to be in charge of this event next year.
   2.  Halloween party for kids at EWU - Kirk reminded us how to access the building and passed around the volunteer sign up sheet for last minute changes.  He expects help from around 8-10 members each from Salnave K-Kids and Cheney High Key Club.
   3.  Rake a difference community service event by EWU students - Randy delivered about 20 rakes from club members and is waiting for their return.
   4.  See's candy - Jeri reminded us about the pre-sell and said every item sold provides a couple of dollars of revenue for the club.

Speaker:  Our speaker was Wendy Schuller, EWU head women's basketball coach.  She told us about a free exhibition game tonight at Reese court at 6pm and gave us information about her players. This year's non-conference games include some tough competition and include home games with Wichita State and Gonzaga.  She said that while winning is important,  the team's top focus is on education.  This last year EWU was #2 in the US in team GPA out of over 300 schools in their division.  The team has also placed in the top 10 in several prior years.  Another team focus is community service.  Last year they provided over 350 hours of service including reading in public schools, Special Olympics and Spokane Guild School. For the  5 weeks of the current year they have already done 6 or 7 team volunteer events.

Announcements:  Rande and Margie Lindner said that the Spokane Composite CAP squadron is participating in Wreaths Across America and distributed information on how club members can sponsor wreaths which will be placed at the Veteran's Cemetery in Medical Lake on December 13.

The meeting adjourned at 8am.

Respectfully submitted,

Jeri

Kiwanis Club of Cheney - October 23, 2014 meeting notes

The meeting was called to order at 7am by President Tom Whitfield.  Sixteen members and our speaker were present; there were no guests.

The President reminded us that quarter cup donations through Dec. 31 will go to Cheney Outreach.  There were no birthdays or anniversaries to recognize.  We thanked Duane Isaac for his several years' service as treasurer.  The 50/50 drawing was won by Kirk.

Club business:
   1.  Margie reported that 200 Coats were collected, which is significantly lower than last year.  Coat distribution with be Oct. 24-27.
   2.  Rande reminded us that an EWU service club has asked to borrow rakes for volunteer yard clean up.  Rande will collect and deliver our labeled rakes and bring them back when they are returned.
   3.  K Kids:  Salnave has about 40 participants; Betz has about 30.  We need to identify a liaison for Salnave; George had done this in the past and will be asked if he can do it again.
   4.  Kirk passed around the sign up for the Harvest festival set up, events and tear down.  Since it will be at the Rec Center, the set up needs to start around 2:30pm.  Food items will be on the upper level and games will be on the ice rink floor.  Service access is on the east side of the building.
   5.  Tony reminded us that the next board meeting is November 3, one day after daylight savings time ends.
   6.  Tom shared announcements from District:  Kiwanis gleaning at Green Bluff will be Nov. 1 and maybe again on Nov. 8.  On Sunday Oct. 26 the East Spokane Kiwanis is having a fundraiser breakfast with proceeds funding literacy programs and Paint a Helmet.

Speaker:  Al French, County Commissioner running for re-election, spoke about economic development in the West Plains.  He said that several aerospace related industries are relocating to or expanding in the West Plains.  An organization called Air Spokane has been created which includes county staff and Community College administrators who work to provide training programs so we have qualified labor for aerospace suppliers.
Also, Caterpillar is planning to expand its existing distribution facility from 600,000 sq. ft to 1,000,000 sq. ft.
One of the newest projects is the railroad grain terminal that will have 8 storage silos, each 19 stories tall that will aggregate grain from several nearby counties and expects to initially generate a weekly 110-car grain train.
He noted that for each $1 of county tax generated by business, the county spends 65 cents providing services; for each $1 of residential tax generated, the county spends $1.35.

Members asked how he views the casino being proposed near Fairchild AFB.  He said he is against it since Fairchild employs a total of over 10,000 active duty and civilian employees and that has a major impact on the county's economy.

The meeting was adjourned at 8am.

Respectfully submitted,
Jeri Morgan Secretary

Kiwanis Club of Cheney  - October 16, 2014 meeting notes

President Tom Whitfield called the meeting to order a bit early.  There were 20 members, 1 guest and 2 speakers present.  We recognized Jerry Hilton's anniversary and Vonice won the 50/50 drawing.

Our speakers were Debra Clemens, Cheney School District Superintendent and Kassidy Probert, Executive Director of Finance for the school district.  They presented information on the levy and bond elections that will happen in February 2015.

Levies are held every three years and the current one ends in 2014.  Levies fund a number of daily operations and the February 2015 election seeks to extend the existing levy rate for another 3 years.

The bond request is for approximately $45 million to update and expand Cheney High School (CHS).  CHS was designed for 900 students, served 934 when it opened and currently serves 1200 students.  Currently there are several portable classrooms in use, the lunch area isn't adequate, there is only a very small theatre for music and theatre performances and there is significant traffic congestion on North 6th Street .  The updated plan calls for adding a wing with 12 classrooms (and the capability to add a 2nd story later); converting the existing small theatre area into science classes, adding a new performing arts location and changing the parking area and Betz Elementary access to reduce traffic congestion.  The proposed changes are expected to meet student needs through 2027.

After the presentation, our business meeting was held:
  •  Kirk passed around a sign up sheet for volunteers to set up, supervise and take down the Kiwanis features at the October 31 Harvest Festival at EWU.
  •  Margie reported that Coats For Kids collection has been slow and is ending this week.
  •  Margie also reminded us of the membership incentive.  For every guest a member brings in October or November, the member will get an entry into a drawing for $56 to be used towards either the existing member's or a new member's dues.
  • Steve attended a Key Club meeting at the high school.  There are about 40 members; they plan to help at the Harvest Festival and are discussing whether to help us sell See's Candy in December.
  • There was a brief discussion on whether a Circle K club could be reactivated at EWU;  Kari Tillman is a staff employee who might be able to give assistance and it was suggested that maybe a fraternity and/or sorority might be willing to provide leadership and continuity for a new club.
Meeting adjourned at 8 am.

Respectfully submitted,

  Jeri Morgan, Secretary

Kiwanis Club of Cheney Meeting Notes for October 9, 2014

Dear Kiwanians,

Tom, our new president opened the meeting to a “good crowd.”

The secret greeter was Gail Pollard.

It was Fred and Gail’s daughter’s birthday as well as Tony’s 75th birthday.  We sang twice!

Fred won the dollar draw!

Tom reported on the rest stop fund-raiser.  We made around $1,067 over two days at one rest stop.

Tom also reported that 29 people plus the Lt Governor attended the induction banquet on Friday.  He asked for a round of applause for the outgoing board members.

Marge announced Coats for Kids is almost done.  We need more donated coats.

Jeri sent around a sign-up sheet to sell Sees candy at the Trading Company in December again.

Fred recommended that Kiwanis become a member of the West Plains Chamber of Commerce at $50 per year.  The Board will take it up at the next meeting.

Marge informed everyone that the club has 29 members.  The club’s membership goal is to reach 35 this coming year.  So, everyone is encouraged to bring a guest.  If you do, your name will be entered into a lottery for $56 later this year.

Tom asked if there would be any interest in a social meeting in December.  Something to keep in mind.

There is a new speaker responsibility list posted on the bulletin board for everyone to check out.  This happened because Board members are not required to recruit speakers.

Our guest speakers included Tony Blount.  They represented three organizations: Time of Remembrance, Cheney Junior Rodeo Association, and the Stars & Stripes, Boots & Spurs Car Club.  ToR is a local organization to remember those Service men and women who died during their service to the country (to include suicides).  It recently donated $30,000 for hotel rooms and meals to eligible survivors in Pasco, WA.

It costs $12,000 to put on the Junior Rodeo at the Rodeo fairgrounds outside Cheney every August for 5-18 year old kids from around the region.  Wal-Mart and the Kalispiel Indian Tribe are corporate sponsors.  They are always looking for more donations.

Respectfully,  Steve

Kiwanis Club of Cheney Meeting Notes for September 25, 2014

Dear Kiwanians,

Keith opened the meeting.

The secret greeter was Gail Pollard, and she identified Bob M as not having shook her hand (he paid a fine).

No birthdays or anniversaries to sing about.

Jerry Hilton won the dollar draw!

Dues are now past due ($112 person; $56 for spouses).  It is higher this year because the national and district organizations imposed an insurance fee equally an additional $6 per member.

Roger reported on the rest stop fund-raiser.  We made around $1,000 over two days at one rest stop.

The InterClub visit to South Hill last Friday was a bust as no one was there at 7 am!

Marge announced Coats for Kids is starting up again.  The new boxes were found at KXLY and now distributed.

The next Board meeting under our new president (Tom) is on October 6 at 7am.  The next regular meeting is October 2nd.  The annual banquet is Friday, October 3rd at Gatto’s ( $16 per person).   40 people have signed up to attend.

Jeri sent around a sign-up sheet to sell Sees candy at the Trading Company in December.

Elizabeth who works at EWU with Eagle Entertainment announced a “Rake a Difference” community care challenge on October 28th at 3 pm.

Mark Shuler, the current Cheney city manager, talked briefly about his career up until now.  Then, he discussed the state of affairs in Cheney, starting with the solid waste program.  Despite saving a lot of money by not going with Spokane County any longer, the state has decided to withhold more money than ever before leaving Cheney a bit short.  As such, many of the city staff positions are unfilled and current staff are pulling double and triple duty (at no extra pay).

 Respectfully,

Steve

Kiwanis Club of Cheney Meeting Notes for September 18, 2014

Dear Kiwanians,

Keith opened the meeting.

I was the secret greeter.  No problems.

No birthdays or anniversaries to sing about.

Bob Mostek won the dollar draw!  Shawn won the 25 cent card draw but was not present (so it carrys over).

Dues are now past due ($112 person; $56 for spouses).  It is higher this year because the national and district organizations imposed an insurance fee equally an additional $6 per member.

Roger reported on the rest stop fund-raiser.  We made around $1,000 over two days at one rest stop.  He thanked everyone that participated (which was most of the club).  Duane noted that two of the $20 bills were counterfeit!  (He replaced them both out of his pocket!  Awesome!)

Next Friday (9/19) will be an InterClub visit to South Hill at 7 am.

Marge announced Coats for Kids is starting up again.  However, we do not have the new boxes yet.

The next Board meeting under our new president (Tom) is on October 6 at 7am.

Bob Quinn, the longest serving professor at EWU (46 years), was back visiting with us again.  He noted that the global weather pattern is a function of the ocean’s temperature.  Right now, the northern Pacific is rather warm, to include an El Nino.  As a result, the weather will be wetter in Alaska and southern California, and dryer in the Inland NW.

So far, the hurricane season in the Pacific has been incredible, while in the Atlantic it has been rather mild.

As for global warming, it is happening and due primarily to two factors: 1) fossil fuel combustion engines (CO2) - 55%, and 2) deforestation (see Latin America) – 45%.

Respectfully,

Steve

Kiwanis Club of Cheney Meeting Notes for September 11, 2014

Dear Kiwanians,

Keith opened the meeting with a moment of silence for the victims of the terrorist attack 13 years ago today.

Carl was the secret greeter.

It was Peter’s wife’s birthday, Rande and Marge’s 17th anniversary, and Bill and Nancy’s 51st anniversary.  We sang, but it was not worth hearing.

Joe, our guest speaker, selected his own ticket for the dollar draw!  I won the 25 cent card draw and donated the money to the Cheney Museum.  (I would rather win the dollar draw!)

Reminder of dates to circle on your calendar:

-          October 2 is a regular meeting

-          October 3 is our annual meeting at Gatto’s at 5:30 pm

-          October 6 is the first Board Meeting under President Tom

-          October 31 is the annual Halloween Party at EWU (location TBD)

Dues are now due ($106 person; $55 for spouses).  However, national and district imposed an insurance fee equally an additional $12.  Our club will cover the $6 difference this year only.

Roger reminded everyone about the rest stop fund-raiser from 12-14 September.  This is it!  Roger went through all the logistics to make this happen to include coffee, lemonade with ice, and the combo to the building.

Next Friday (9/19) will be an InterClub visit to South Hill at 7 am.

Marge announced Coats for Kids is starting up again.

Guest speakers for September include Bob Quinn (TV weatherman) next meeting, and Mark Shuler, City Administrator, the week after that.

Peter introduced Joe of the Cheney Light Department.  Joe talked about the transmission grid, balancing areas, brown and black outs, and spinning reserves.

It is becoming more challenging to predict the energy availability with  the onset of wind and solar power sources.  However, the wind generators send their electricity to California.

Cheney buys 97% of its power from Bonneville Power (15 megawatts per day from the Grand Coulee Dam).  It costs around $350,000 in the Summer months and $600,000 in the Winter months.  However, Cheney is among the top 75 cities in the US for lowest electricity rates.

Respectfully,

Steve

Cheney Kiwanis Club meeting minutes for July 31 2014

Dear Kiwanians,
The meeting was called to order at 7am by Keith.

The 50/50 draw was won by Bill Nation; the quarter cup draw charity donation was a carryover (Benji was drawn but not present!).

Kiwanis child protect: Kiwanis International requires all members who work at a sponsored children’s event to have this training, even if the member has had similar training through other organizations. Another training will be held at 8am on August 14, immediately after our regular morning meeting.

September rest stop fund raiser: we will again supply coffee and snacks at the west bound rest stop near Sprague Lake. Our dates are Friday, September 12 through Sunday, September 14. Currently the signup is for a 7 hour shift: 6am to 1pm or 1pm to 8pm. If we have enough volunteers, we can shorten the shifts and if anyone wants to split a shift with someone else that is okay. Roger circulated a signup sheet and reminded us about the state rules for working the rest stop.

We will have an interclub visit with the West Spokane club at their August 6 meeting at 5:45pm at the downtown Spokane Perkin’s restaurant. Tom, Tony and Bob will carpool from the Marshall Post Office and Jeri will go directly to the meeting.

We will have a club potluck on August 20 at 5:30 pm at Sutton Park, just before that evening’s concert. The club will provide hamburgers and hot dogs and members should bring a beverage and a side dish.

Guest Speaker: Our speaker was Commander Rick Campbell from the Cheney Police Department. He spoke about volunteer opportunities with the department and distributed a brochure. The department utilizes three types of volunteers:

1. Chaplains – these are ordained clergy who provide counseling to victims and to officers and their families (divorce rates for police officers is very high). Currently there are 3 chaplains but one of them plans to move away in a couple of years.

2. Reserve officers – the department is authorized to have 10 reserve officers and currently has none. Reserve officers receive training over a 5 month period and are expected to work at least 20 hours a month as volunteers. Many younger people interested in a law enforcement career become reserve officers to receive training and experience before applying for paid positions.

3. Senior volunteers – currently there are 2, but the department could use 10. These people are needed for a variety of tasks from writing parking tickets, doing traffic control, working in the office, assisting with record destruction, etc. The department and the volunteer decide what tasks and what hours each volunteer will work.

All volunteers must be over age 18 and successfully pass a background check; law enforcement experience is not required. Contact the volunteer coordinator at (509)498-9288 if you are interested in becoming a volunteer.

Our next meeting will be at 5:30 pm on August 7. The meeting was adjourned at 8 am.
Sincerely,  Jeri
