Dear Kiwanians,
Keith opened the meeting.
Roger did not realize
that he was the secret greeter!
Our guest speaker, Suzie
Dunn, drew her own ticket and won the dollar draw. The 25-cent draw went to Jan Abrams, who was
not present (hence, a holdover).
The dues for the CHS Key
Club have still not been received by Kiwanis International – even though a
check was already mailed a while ago.
However, the check has not been cashed.
We may have to reissue another one.
Roger reminded everyone
about the rest stop fund-raiser from 12-14 September.
Fred and the Kiwanis Club
will also be selling cotton candy during the Rodeo Day Parade on Saturday, July 12th. Volunteers still needed for that.
I volunteered to present
my findings from my June trip to China (to include Tibet) sometime in August.
Keith asked if anyone
would be interested in a social event in the park this summer. We decided to meet on August 20 when the
group “Last Chance for Gas” is playing.
This social outing will be a pot-luck….
The final and last
evening meeting will be in early September.
If you did not receive
the Child Protection training, a make-up training session will be made
available following an upcoming Kiwanis meeting.
Then, Keith and Vonice
stood up to display our new club banner.
It looks very sharp.
Finally, Vonice introduced
her guest speaker – Suzie Dunn. Suzie is
the Development Director for Inland NW Babies (for 4 months now) which focuses
on providing diapers for babies in need.
It costs around $100 a
month to provide diapers for one baby.
There is no welfare program that provides diapers. Most poor people do not have a washer and
dryer and you cannot wash diapers at a laundry mat.
Since 2010, this program
has been 100% volunteers, and over 200,000 diapers have been distributed to
over 7,000 requests.
We passed around the
bucket for donations.
Respectfully,
Steve
