Kiwanis Club of Cheney Meeting Notes for March 13 2014

Kiwanis Club of Cheney Meeting Notes for March 13 2014

Dear Kiwanians,

Keith opened the meeting. The Secret Greeter was me!  That’ a first!

Toni and Jeanette have been married for 50 years, so Toni donated $50!  We sang to him (and her)!

It was Fred Pollard’s birthday, and we sang again (very well, it was noted).

Jeff Keller won the 50/50 dollars. The quarter and Pelican draw were both carry-overs.

The next Inter-Club meeting is scheduled for March 26 at 6 pm at the Deer Park Pizza Factory.

I reported on Cheney HS Key Club activities, to include cooking breakfast at the Ronald MacDonald House on March 8, and calling numbers at the Senior Center Bingo night.  The club will place eggs at the Easter Egg event on April 19.  Finally, I pitched the “Paint a Helmut” event at the Spokane Fairgrounds on April 26.

The Easter Hunt is scheduled for April 19th (Fred, Jim, and Duane).  Benji recommended we shoot for 6,000 plastic eggs (which means we need about 1,500 more).

Everyone was reminded by Roger that we are doing another flower delivery for Mother’s Day (May 11) since the Valentine Day deliveries went so well.  Deliveries will be on 9-10 May.

The next Board meeting is on April 7 at 7 am.

I reported that the Golf Tournament that we took over for Rotary is now scheduled for Saturday, June 14.  Chris, the manager at Fairways Golf Course, said he was interested in running the event – to include recruiting golfers , marketing and advertisement.  We (Fred and I) are responsible for getting sponsors and gifts for the event.

Jeff recommended that the club have a social outing on Saturday, May 3rd, to include a dinner-show with Stage West.  More to follow.

Marge introduced Mable Dunbar, the CEO of the non-profit organization “Women’s Healing and Empowerment Network.” She discussed the local problems with domestic violence and abuse (by anyone of any age and gender against the same).

The next Kiwanis Club meeting is on March 20th at 7 am.

Respectfully,

Steve
